Prior to this she worked as an attorney. Julie and Kara have been partners in midwifery since 2005. They worked in private practice and for 2 different hospital systems before deciding to open their own business.
"We work well together because we both believe in taking the best care possible of all of our patients, including those very young, to those post-menopausal. We both honor and support physiologic birth. We offer true midwifery services, including labor support, and will be at your side at the hospital while you labor. We strongly believe in the provision of VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean section) services. We believe in practicing evidence-based medicine, which, interestingly usually supports normal physiological birth. We also love the relationships that develop over time with our patients and enjoy providing gynecological care to all women. We are mindful of healthcare costs."
Julie and Kara strongly believe in informed consent. They also feel that women should have choices. "We support both home birth and birth center births, but at the same time we believe that our calling is to support women who have determined that the best option for them and their families is to birth in a supportive hospital. We believe in the autonomy of women, and support them whether or not they choose to have pain medication during labor - we want the best experience possible for families."
